Welcome
The Coalition
of Leaders for Louisiana Healthcare
(COLLAH) was organized by health
care stakeholders both statewide
and in the New Orleans region
to continue the discussion of
designing and implementing a modernized
health care delivery and financing
system based on evidenced-based
patient need, the Guiding Principles
and the Concept Paper of the Louisiana
Health Care Redesign Collaborative.
Goals
The Coalition’s
immediate goal is to develop an
implementation plan for a modernized
health care delivery system in
the New Orleans region based on
the Collaborative’s Medical
Home Model, which improves access
to care, increases patient choice
for the uninsured and systematically
provides patient-based reimbursement
for all qualified providers of
care. The Coalition will design
an appropriate system of referrals
for diagnostic services, access
to specialty care and hospital
services, as well as clarify the
mechanics of providing health
care coverage and suggest benefit
packages and services.
The long term
goal of the Coalition is to expand
the best practices from the plan
for the New Orleans region statewide
and serve as a health system redesign
example for the rest of the nation.
This is a logical next step toward
implementation of valid concepts
contained in the work of the Louisiana
Health Care Redesign Collaborative’s
concept paper, the blueprint for
healthcare system reform in Louisiana.
